JHU APL instructor, Juan Ramirez, P.E., above, was recently awarded the EP Exceptional Course Design Award (2023).

Congratulations to Juan Ramirez whose online course 525.726 Applications of Power Electronics Design met all quality benchmarks during a recent final course design quality review. He worked with Hong Shaddy, CLDT Sr. Instructional Designer, to design and develop his online course.

His is the first course to meet all quality standards in our course development process since our quality assurance plan was implemented in early 2023. To meet all course design quality benchmarks, the course met the majority of the 48 specific review standards that fall within these eight general categories:

  1. Course Overview and Introduction
  2. Learning Objectives (Competencies)
  3. Assessment and Measurement
  4. Instructional Materials
  5. Learning Activities and Learner Interaction
  6. Course Technology
  7. Learner Support
  8. Accessibility and Usability
