Memory Overload: Can We Remember in the Age of Google?
Forget sticky notes and phone reminders! Join our Spring 2024 Virtual Book Club as we delve into the fascinating world of memory in the digital age. Dr. Michelle Miller’s Remembering and Forgetting in the Age of Technology explores how our reliance on smartphones, search engines and endless recordings is reshaping the way we remember (or forget) information. As smartphones and search engines become external brain extensions, are we losing our natural ability to retain information?
This book dives into:
- The science of memory: Unravel the fascinating processes our brains use to store and retrieve information.
- Technology’s double-edged sword: Learn how digital tools both support and challenge our natural memory capacities.
- Teaching in a wired world: Discover practical strategies for fostering strong memory skills in your students.
Join us as we explore the implications of a world where forgetting might be as easy as a Google search. Are we headed for a future of intellectual dependence on machines, or can we harness technology to build stronger, more nuanced memories? Let’s talk about it!
