Dr. Olysha Magruder to complete Fulbright Award
Olysha Magruder, Interim Assistant Dean of Learning Design and Innovation, was awarded a 2023 Fulbright Award and will be in Dublin, Ireland from March until the end of May of 2024. There have been 20 Fulbright awards given to Hopkins faculty and staff over the past 10 years, including Magruder and Eileen Haas, program chair for EP’s biomedical engineering program (2018-2019, project titled, “Strengthening Biomedical Engineering Education in Uganda”).
The title of Magruder’s Fulbright project is “Excelling in Online and Blended Teaching through Collaborative Partnerships after a Global Pandemic.” The project’s goal is to “develop and support opportunities for the faculty at Dublin City University (DCU) and Johns Hopkins University’s Whiting School of Engineering to learn from each other about the best practices in online and blended teaching and learning, build a community of practice through a technology-enabled approach to collaboration, and share the resulting knowledge within the professional community.”
DCU and WSE faculty collaborations
Plans are underway to include DCU faculty in the Spring 2024 Book Club (see pg. 11 for more details) and the 2024 Faculty Forward Fellowship program (see pg. 10 for more details). Magruder will also host several virtual meetings to introduce DCU faculty to Hopkins faculty to discuss topics in online and blended education.
